Pogostemon Helferi Downoi Red is a variation of the popular original, P. Downoi. This variation is rarer of the two known forms with this species featuring red-toned striations and color tones throughout the foliage. In general, Pogostemon Helferi Downoi is distinctive and easily recognized for its unique leaves. Growth is typically compact but can become leggy if lighting levels are insufficient. Providing medium to high lighting, CO2 injection and a quality source of nutrition will help in ensuring this aquarium plant remains compact and bushy.
Because of its growth pattern, most aquarium hobbyists favor placing this unique plant in the midground of an aquascape layout or along the base of structures. We recommend this plant to hobbyists who have more experience growing and keeping aquarium plants.
