Nymphoides hydrophylla ‘Taiwan’ is a fast-growing aquatic plant known for its bright, translucent green leaves and distinct lily-like appearance. Originating from regions in Asia and Africa, this species develops a dense rosette with stems and leaves sprouting upward, creating fullness and gentle, flowing motion in planted aquariums.
As it matures, it can quickly fill out space with its wide, rounded leaves, producing a lush, layered appearance. It easily becomes a focal point in an aquascape, contrasting well against fine-textured plants while adding movement and some natural enrichment for aquatic life.
Once established, regular maintenance is recommended. Thinning older and surface leaves will help prevent excessive shading and encourage healthy development below. Propagation is simple, as new plantlets naturally form from mature leaves—gently separate and replant or share with fellow aquascapers.
Pairs Well With
– Fine-leaf stem plants to create varying textures and contrast
– Aquatic mosses and epiphytes to soften surrounding areas
– Branching driftwood to support natural, flowing appearance
