Microsorum pteropus ‘Narrow Leaf Mini’, also known as Java Fern Narrow Leaf Mini, is a compact variation of the classic Java Fern with shorter, slender leaves. Compared to standard Narrow Leaf, this version stays smaller while maintaining the same signature narrow leaf shape.
Recently reclassified asLeptochilus pteropus, this plant is still widely known in the aquarium hobby as Microsorum pteropus. Its smaller size makes it especially useful for nano planted aquariums, where it can be used in the midground or even background without overwhelming the layout.
Like other Java Fern varieties, it is very easy to care for and grows well in low light conditions. It is tolerant of a wide range of water parameters, making it a great choice for beginner setups. As an epiphytic plant, it can be attached directly to driftwood, rocks, or aquarium decor using thread or glue.
Be sure to keep the rhizome above the substrate to prevent rot. Propagation is simple—just cut or divide the rhizome and reattach as needed. Over time, it will continue to grow into a dense, natural-looking cluster.
