Aponogeton Boivinianus is a large bulb-type aquarium plant that is best for large planted aquariums or freshwater ponds. When established, this aquatic plant grows impressive foliage that surpasses 2 feet in length. Older leaves deepen to a rich green, while new growth is lighter green with brown hues until it matures. Planting methods vary. Some prefer to partially plant the bulb directly into nutrient-rich aquasoil with the growing tip right above the surface. Others will vouch for allowing it to remain floating above the substrate and have had success that way as well.
Important Note:This listing does not include fully mature plants. Please ensure you are prepared to care for the option chosen during purchase.
If planting in soil, we recommend starting with a nutrient-dense planted aquarium substrate like Aquario Neo Soil or supplementing with nutrient root tabs. Aponogeton plants go through periods of dormancy. During this stage, it may shed its leaves, but will eventually grow back. In natural settings, these large aquarium plants are found in fast-flowing waters. Provide similar conditions for best results. Its size, movement and general hardiness make it a great focal plant for river-themed biotope aquascapes, ponds or large planted tanks.
