The Fenestratus Cichlid is a bold, heavy-bodied Central American species known for its dramatic “windowed” patterning. A bronze to olive base is layered with dark, broken barring and iridescent blue-green highlights that shimmer under strong lighting. Mature males often develop enhanced coloration along the face and fins, sometimes showing subtle orange or red accents depending on mood and dominance.

Native to river systems of Mexico and Guatemala,Vieja fenestratais a confident midwater cruiser that establishes territory with posture and display.
