Ultum Nature Systems Controsand is a natural substrate designed for planted aquariums. Available in several grains and colors, each type offers a different look that is perfect for creating a variety of popular aquascape styles. Controsand is a natural product and is safe for all planted tank and freshwater aquarium applications. Give it a rinse with clean water before use to remove finer grains and ensure a crystal clear start.

UNS Controsand is available in 3L and 8L bags, making it suitable for nano tanks to large show aquariums! As a baseline, we recommend the 3L bag for nano tank sizes up to the UNS 45U rimless aquarium. UNS Controsand Kona

Kona Controsand is a rounded pebble gravel designed for freshwater aquarium use. Kona’s deeper tones can be used as a supporting feature or to create excellent contrast. Like other Controsands, Kona can be used alone or mixed with other substrates for a custom look in planted tanks, terrariums, paludariums and more. We’ve used Kona as part of a custom substrate blend for our Iwagumi aquascape in the UNS 90L rimless tank!
