FAQ
Is this strictly for freshwater?
No — NutriDiet Herbivore Tabs work in both freshwater AND saltwater tanks. Marine herbivores like tangs, foxfaces, and rabbitfish will graze the tabs just like freshwater plecos do.
How long do the tabs last in the tank before fouling water?
With active grazing, tabs are usually consumed within a few hours. If grazers are slow or the tank is lightly stocked, tabs can sit for 12–24 hours before they begin to break down. Remove any uneaten portion after 24 hours.
How does it compare to Hikari Algae Wafers?
Hikari Algae Wafers are denser and sink very fast — great for plecos that gulp food whole. Seachem NutriDiet tabs are softer and adhere to surfaces, which suits otocinclus and other rasping grazers better. The probiotic formulation and GarlicGuard are Seachem’s points of differentiation.
Does it have artificial colors or fillers?
The NutriDiet line is built around natural plant- and algae-based nutrition. The tabs aren’t bright neon and don’t rely on cheap binders — they’re a premium positioning compared to budget herbivore wafers.
Will my omnivorous fish eat them?
Most omnivores happily eat herbivore tabs as a varied-diet supplement. Tetras, livebearers, gouramis, corydoras, and many community fish will graze them alongside their regular flake or pellet diet.
