Rotala macrandra is a highly sought-after species characterized by its vivid color and signature leaf shape. It makes for a beautiful background plant in medium to larger planted aquariums. This is one of the easier macrandra varietals to cultivate, with some of the others being quite picky with parameters and requirements. Start by providing strong lighting, CO2 injection and a nutrient-dense aquasoil. Soft water is a plus!
When provided with stable conditions, this aquatic plant is an amazing addition to any planted tank. Individual stems should also be given sufficient space when planted, as planting them too closely together will deprive the lower leaves of light. Rotala macrandra plants can be more difficult to grow, but the results are well worth the extra effort and rewarding if successful.
