Red Lizard Whiptail Catfish
Red Lizard Whiptail Catfish(Rineloricariasp.) is one of the most visually striking loricariid catfish available for the planted aquarium. The body is a vivid brick-red to orange-red — an unusual and eye-catching color for a bottom-dwelling catfish — with the long, whip-like caudal filaments that give the species its common name. It lies completely flat against wood and rock surfaces, its outline so flat it seems almost two-dimensional against the substrate.

Native to river systems of South America — the exact origin of captive-bred ‘Red Lizard’ stock is disputed, but the red coloration is a selectively developed aquarium strain rather than a specific wild locality form.
