This product features a highly-specialized microbial consortium of nitrifying cultures designed to eliminate ammonia through the natural biological process known as nitrification. The cultures in MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II establish, promote, and stabilize nitrification in pond waters, effectively eliminating the toxic effects of ammonia.

MICROBE-LIFT/Nite-Out II consists of select microorganisms that are autotrophic, meaning they can use carbon dioxide as their sole source of carbon. They have a relatively slow growth rate, with typical cell division rates ranging from 8 to 16 hours. The performance and growth rate of these microorganisms are influenced by specific environmental parameters necessary for nitrification.

It’s important to note that these microorganisms are highly oxygen-sensitive and require high dissolved oxygen levels (greater than 2 mg/L) for maximum growth rates. Nitrite, produced by beneficial bacteria in the pond during the oxidation of harmful waste ammonia excreted by fish, can be damaging to fish health, although not as toxic as ammonia.
