Ludwigia Twister is a unique species in the Ludwigia family. Just as its name describes, this odd aquarium plant features curled leaves that are presented in tight spirals sprouting from the stem. With such a unique appearance, Ludwigia Twister, sometimes also referred to as Ludwigia Curly, makes for a great ornamental aquatic plant. As Ludwigia Twister is still considered a rarity, there is limited information available regarding its care. However, it has been observed to be similar to Ludwigia Inclinata Cuba. When provided with quality lighting, CO2 injection and proper nutrients, Ludwigia Twister grows at a fast pace like most aquarium stem plants and will require regular pruning to encourage bushy, branching growth.
Propagation is simple and can be done the same as any other aquarium stem plant. Simply cut the stem using quality aquascaping tools and replant them into a quality substrate. Ludwigia Twister can also be grown in both submerged aquarium settings or in emersed conditions. If optimal health is reached, this aquarium plant will also produce small yellow flowers above the water’s surface.
