Limnophila hippuridoides is a striking and versatile stem plant native to Southeast Asia, celebrated for its fine, delicate leaves and bushy growth habit. The leaves display a vibrant green color with a striking red-violet underside, and under ideal growth conditions, the entire leaf takes on a beautiful red-violet hue. This plant is relatively easy to care for and can adapt to various aquarium conditions, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced aquarists.
Limnophila hippuridoides thrives with good lighting and a nutrient-rich substrate. CO2 injection brings out the brightest colors. When provided with optimal conditions, it grows vigorously, producing numerous solid shoots from the base and enhancing its lush appearance. Regular thinning of the oldest and longest shoots is recommended to encourage new growth; cuttings can be replanted, and they will quickly develop new roots. Interestingly, if the stem or leaves are damaged, the plant emits a strong scent, adding to its unique characteristics. Planting this species in groups creates a vibrant backdrop in any aquascape, making Limnophila hippuridoides a fantastic choice for aquariums of all sizes.
