Green Fire Tetra

Green Fire Tetra(Aphyocharax rathbuni) is also known as Rathbun’s Bloodfin — a vivid and active tetra with emerald-green body iridescence and vivid red-orange fin coloration creating the green-fire two-tone effect. Named for ichthyologist Mary Jane Rathbun.

Feeding & Care Tip:Sera Vipan Tropical FlakesandHikari Micro Pelletsmake excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week withHikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Bloodworms,Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, orHikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.

Native to the Paraguay and La Plata basins — a cool-tolerant species from the temperate southern part of the South American tetra range. More adaptable to lower temperatures than Amazonian species.

Keep in groups of at least 10. Cool-water tolerant — compatible with temperate species. The green body and red fins are most vivid in good lighting.

A vivid two-tone tetra with cool-water tolerance — excellent for unheated or cool aquariums alongside White Clouds.
