Flame Moss (Taxiphyllum‘Flame’) is one of the most striking mosses in the hobby, named for the way it grows straight up in twisting, flame-like spires instead of spreading flat. That unique vertical habit makes it a showpiece on driftwood, rock, and moss walls, and like all mosses it is hardy, needs no CO2, and thrives under almost any light. Shrimp and fry love it, too.

FAQ

What makes Flame Moss different from other mosses?
Its growth direction. Instead of creeping flat, Flame Moss grows upward in twisting, flame-shaped spires, giving an effect no other moss provides.

How do I attach it?
Tie a thin layer to wood or rock with cotton thread or fishing line, or tack it down with cyanoacrylate gel glue. It grips on its own within a few weeks.

Does it need CO2?
No. It grows without CO2 in almost any freshwater tank. CO2, good light, and slightly cooler water just give you the most compact, vivid flames.

Is it shrimp safe?
Yes. It is non-toxic and one of the best plants for shrimp, trapping biofilm and giving fry a place to hide.
