F/2 Algae Food is a professional-grade, two-part nutrient solution based on Guillard’s renowned 1957 F/2 formula, optimized for dense, healthy growth of both microalgae and macroalgae in saltwater or freshwater environments. Perfect for culturing phytoplankton, macroalgae like Chaetomorpha, and even biodiesel strains, this liquid format eliminates the need for weighing raw chemicals, saving time and reducing error.

Each gallon contains concentrated vitamins, trace minerals, and macronutrients in two separate solutions—Part A and Part B—ensuring long-term stability and preventing premature breakdown of vitamins or precipitation of elements. Simply add both solutions to your culture water for a complete and balanced algae-growing environment.

Part A – Trace Metals & Minerals

Formulated for optimal nutrient bioavailability, Part A provides essential trace elements used in photosynthesis, cellular function, and pigment production:

• Iron (Fe): 1.3%– Supports chlorophyll synthesis and metabolic processes

• Manganese (Mn): 0.034%– Activates enzymes for photosynthesis

• Cobalt (Co): 0.002%– Essential for vitamin B12 synthesis in algae

• Zinc (Zn): 0.0037%– Enzyme cofactor; supports chloroplast function

• Copper (Cu): 0.00017%– Required in trace amounts for photosynthetic electron transport

• Molybdate (Mo): 0.0009%– Facilitates nitrogen assimilation

Part B – Macronutrients & Vitamins

Provides the key building blocks for biomass development, energy transport, and enzymatic activity:

• Nitrogen (N): 6.0%– Supplied as sodium nitrate; essential for protein and chlorophyll synthesis

• Phosphate (P₂O₅): 2.0%– Supplied as monosodium phosphate; vital for energy (ATP) production

• Vitamin B1 (Thiamine): 0.07%– Supports enzymatic activity and cell respiration

• Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin): 0.0002%– Aids DNA synthesis and carbon fixation

• Biotin: 0.0002%– Required for fatty acid synthesis and metabolism

Ingredients:

Sodium nitrate, monosodium phosphate, thiamine hydrochloride, vitamin B12, biotin

Directions for Use:

• Standard Dose:Add1 tsp (5 mL)each of Part A and Part B per10 gallons (37.8 L)of freshwater or saltwater culture medium.

• Metric:Add1 mL each per 7.75 liters, or132 mL each per cubic meter.

• Fordiatom culture, supplement with49 mg Na₂SiO₃ per gallon(or13 mg per liter) of sodium metasilicate.
