Dwarf Scissortail Rasbora(Rasbosoma spilocerca) is a smaller, nano-aquarium-friendly version of the Scissortail Rasbora theme — the same characteristic caudal fin spot and movement pattern scaled down to a fish barely 1.5 inches long.Spilocercameans ‘spotted tail’ in Greek. Placed in the distinct genusRasbosomarather thanRasbora, reflecting its separate evolutionary lineage.

Native to the rivers and streams of the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra — soft to moderately soft water with moderate current. The distinct genusRasbosomawas established to separate this and related species from the larger Rasbora genus.
Keep in groups of at least 8. The dwarf size makes this species suitable for standard nano and community aquariums where the full-sized Scissortail would be too large. Active and fast-swimming — compatible with peaceful community fish of similar size.
