3. Plant the portions into the substrate using tweezers, then watch them grow!
Native to Cuba, Hemianthus callitrichoides ‘Cuba’, commonly known as Dwarf Baby Tears, is one of the smallest aquarium plants, featuring tiny, round leaves that create a lush, green carpet. This attractive foreground plant is ideal for small aquariums and is highly sought after for its vibrant appearance. While not overly difficult to care for, it does require specific conditions: bright light, CO2 injection, good water circulation, and regular fertilization. For optimal growth, maintain temperatures below 74°F during the adaptation phase.
When properly cared for, Dwarf Baby Tears produce charming bubbles of oxygen that enhance the lively aesthetic of your aquascape. Plant in small clumps a few inches apart for rapid spreading, but remember to trim regularly to ensure all parts receive adequate light and to prevent root decay. For a less demanding alternative, consider Micranthemum ‘Monte-Carlo’ if creating the ideal conditions proves challenging. Transform your aquarium with Hemianthus callitrichoides ‘Cuba’ for a stunning, vibrant display!
