Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Pink Panther’ is a striking and rare variant of the popular wendtii group, known for its bright pink to blush-colored leaves that add a unique splash of color to any freshwater aquascape. Ideal for midgroundor foreground placement, this slow-growing rosette plant thrives in mature, stable aquarium conditions. Unlike the other variants of wendtii, ‘Pink Panther’ needs bright light to maintain its vibrant hues, and is best maintained with the addition of CO2.
To keep Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Pink Panther’ healthy, maintain consistent water parameters and avoid sudden changes—this variety is prone to “Crypt melt” when relocated or exposed to fluctuating conditions. If your new plant does melt after planting it, just trim the melted leaves and wait for new growth; this plant will typically adapt and grow back within a few weeks. Plant it in a nutrient-rich substrate and/or supplement it with root tabs to support its root-feeding habit. Once settled, this eye-catching crypt develops broad, slightly ruffled leaves that gently fan out, creating a dense, low-growing cluster. With its unusual coloration, ‘Pink Panther’ is a standout addition to any planted aquarium.
