Cryptocoryne becketii ‘Petchii,’ originally classified as Cryptocoryne petchii, is a stunning triploid form of the popular C. beckettii. Native to Sri Lanka, it thrives in both soft and hard water, though it performs best under moderate to high light.

Characterized by its brown-green rosettes, C. becketii ‘Petchii’ quickly forms dense, bushy growths. It benefits from a nutrient-rich substrate and responds well to additional fertilization and CO2, though it grows satisfactorily without these enhancements. To prevent the initial melting phase and for continued success with this plant, provide it with root fertilizing tablets or capsules, and repeat the dose every 2 – 3 months.Propagation is simple through cutting and replanting the runners that develop on its rhizome. This versatile plant is ideal for the midground of aquariums, adding a striking contrast with its reddish-brown leaves and wavy leaf edges.
