Bucephalandra Silver Aurorais a mesmerizing small to medium variety displaying a shifting aurora-like iridescence of blue, green, and purple across its leaf surfaces. Distinguished by a particularly luminous silver shimmer that intensifies under good aquarium lighting, Silver Aurora earns its name with every change of viewing angle — like a tiny aurora display playing out across each leaf as light moves through the tank.

Planting tip:Bucephalandra Silver Aurora can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.

As a Bornean species from Indonesia, Silver Aurora can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to driftwood or stone at any height in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. Like all Bucephalandra, it has the endearing ability to produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.

Silver Aurora reaches 1 to 3 inches in height and grows well in low to moderate lighting without CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 provide excellent growing conditions. Regular liquid fertilization supports the health and vibrancy of the iridescent leaf coloration.

In the aquascape, Bucephalandra Silver Aurora is most effective as a foreground accent on clean, prominent hardscape — a single well-placed specimen on a dark stone or pale driftwood creates an immediate focal point. Its small size and spectacular coloring make it especially well suited for nano tanks and paludariums where it can be observed closely. It pairs beautifully with dark green mosses and deep-hued plants that throw its silver-aurora shimmer into vivid relief.

Bucephalandra Silver Aurora is a collector’s treasure of the first order. Small in size, enormous in visual impact, and as reliably hardy as any plant in the genus.
