Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter QuikCycl – Fishless Cycling Nutrient
Kick off a clean, controlled nitrogen cycle—without risking livestock. MicroBacter QuikCycl provides precise ammonia-based nutrients forfishlesscycling when paired with a live bacterial culture such as MicroBacter Start XLM/XLF. 🧪🌊🐠❌
What It Does
- Feeds nitrifying bacteria with a clean, measured ammonia source
- Designed for both marine and freshwater aquariums
- Pairs with MicroBacter Start XLM/XLF for fast, reliable cycling
- Promotes a strong biological filter before fish are added
Important Safety & Setup Notes
- Fishless only:Do not use in aquariums containing live fish, corals/plants, or invertebrates.
- No media that removes nutrients:Donotuse carbon, GFO, or other phosphate removers until cycling is completeand30 more days have passed.
- Use test kits daily for pH, ammonia, nitrite (and nitrate when indicated).
- Have adequate bio‑surface area (e.g., rock, filter media). Turn off skimmer/UV and remove fine filter socks during the initial phase.
Full Day‑by‑Day Dosing Guide (Days 1–9+)
- Day 1
- Turn off skimmer & UV; remove fine mechanical filtration (e.g., socks).
- Dechlorinate (treat chloramine/chlorine), then set salinity, pH/alkalinity, and temperature.
- Dose a full start of QuikCycl at4 drops per gallon(≈1 ml per 5 gal).
- Test ammonia. Target is ~1–2 ppm total ammonia(NH₃ + NH₄⁺).Do not add moretoday even if your test reads low—the bacteria begin using it quickly.
- Add live bacteria:MicroBacter Start XLM(marine) orXLF(freshwater) as directed.
- Day 2– Measure and recordpH, ammonia, nitrite.
- Day 3– Measure and recordpH, ammonia, nitrite.
- Day 4– MeasurepH, ammonia, nitrite. If either ammonia or nitrite is>0.25 ppm, youmayadd more bacteria (not more QuikCycl).
- Day 5– Measure and recordpH, ammonia, nitrite.
- Day 6– MeasurepH, ammonia, nitrite. If either is>0.25 ppm, youmayadd more bacteria (not more QuikCycl).
- Day 7
- MeasurepH, ammonia, nitrite.
- If you usedMicroBacter Start XLM/XLFand bothammonia = 0andnitrite = 0, then testnitrate.
- Ifnitrate ≥ 0.25 ppm, the aquarium is consideredcycled.
- If not yet at zero/≥0.25, continue to Day 8.
- Day 8– Measure and recordpH, ammonia, nitrite.
- Day 9 and subsequent days
- Continue measuringpH, ammonia, nitrite.
- Whenammonia + nitrite = 0, testnitrate. Ifnitrate ≥ 0.25 ppm, the aquarium iscycled.
- At completion: perform a25% water change, thenslowlybegin adding hardy animals. Restart UV, skimmer, and mechanical filtration.
What’s Included
- 60 ml (2 oz) bottle of MicroBacter QuikCycl
