How to Use
- Important:Brightwell notes Lugol’s has been produced intwo strengthsdue to regulations. Follow the strength printed on your bottle label. Always test iodine before and during use.
- Aquarium dosing (current Brightwell guidance):Each 1 ml raises iodine by ~12 ppm per 1 US‑gal(≈0.6 ppm per drop; 20 drops = 1 ml). Use their EZ math:
gallons × desired ppm increase × 0.07570 = ml. Example: to raise 0.02 ppm in 100 gal → 100 × 0.02 × 0.07570 ≈0.15 ml(~3 drops). Dose in a high‑flow area and re‑test. - Coral dip (per Brightwell method):Calculate by the strength printed on your label. EZ math:
14.4 ÷ (ppm per gallon on your label) = ml Lugol’s per 1 gal dip. If your label states 12 ppm/gal, add1.2 ml per gallon(≈1 dropperful + 4 drops). Dip corals10–12 minutes; set a timer ⏱️. Rinse in clean tank water before returning to display. - Skimmer & media:Keep protein skimmer running; remove carbon/resins during treatment to avoid rapid removal of iodine.
