Bacto-Surge® Biological Action Filters are air-driven sponge filters designed to provide superior mechanical and biological filtration for your aquarium. Please note, an air pump is not included. These filters feature a highly porous sponge that offers an extensive surface area and thousands of microscopic pores, fostering the growth of beneficial aerobic bacteria.

Bacto-Surge® Filters are perfect for both freshwater and marine aquariums. The highly porous sponge maximizes bacterial action, increasing the surface area for maximum bacteria colonization. The soft sponge material is easily cleaned and made of durable polyether foam for a longer lifespan.

The uplift tube and built-in air diffuser combination provide maximum lift and resist clogging, ensuring continuous filtration. Regular maintenance is simple, requiring only rinsing with aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria.

Usage Tips:

• Initial Soaking: Before installation, soak the sponge block in aquarium water for at least five (5) minutes.
• Cleaning: Always rinse the sponge block with water taken from your aquarium. Avoid using tap or hot faucet water.
• Re-Installation: Submerge the sponge block in aquarium water and squeeze gently to remove trapped air, ensuring proper operation.
• Peak Performance: The filter requires a minimum of 30 days to reach peak performance. Monitor ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels during this period.
