Care tip:Anacharis najas is a floating plant that grows on the water surface without substrate. Avoid strong surface agitation and thin regularly to prevent complete surface coverage. Temperatures between 60–80°F support healthy growth.

Growing to 12 to 24 inches, Anacharis najas can be planted in the substrate as a background plant or left to float freely where it grows most vigorously. As a floating plant it creates natural fry cover and provides maximum oxygenation near the surface. Regular trimming of planted specimens maintains an attractive background; floating trimmings can be removed or left as additional floating cover.

This easy plant requires no CO₂ supplementation and grows in low to moderate lighting. The temperature range of 60 to 80°F reflects genuine cold tolerance. A pH of 6.5 to 7.5 provides comfortable conditions. Regular fertilization is beneficial but not essential in established tanks. The fast growth rate makes this one of the most effective natural nutrient managers available.
