Alternanthera reineckii ‘Mini’ is a compact, dwarf aquatic plant known for its rich red color, offering a rare red accent for aquarium foregrounds. This miniature version of the well-known Alternanthera is ideal for small aquariums or as a foreground feature in larger aquascapes. With careful trimming, it can form a dense, red-violet carpet, making it a striking visual contrast to green plants.
This slow-growing plant thrives in submersed conditions, requiring moderate to high light, CO2 supplementation, and nutrient-rich soil for optimal health and coloration. Its bushy, low-growing stems reach up to 20 cm, and it can be propagated through top or lateral cuttings. While its slow reproduction rate makes it manageable, the Alternanthera reineckii ‘Mini’ adds a bold touch to Dutch-style aquascapes and pairs beautifully with plants like Staurogyne repens for a stunning red-green contrast.
