Shusui – (shoo-sue-ee) : The doitsu (German) version of the Asagi. Doitsu koi are scaleless. The red will usually extend above the lateral line and large scales run along the top of the koi from head to tail and occasionally across the lateral line as well. This variation was produced almost 100 years ago by crossing the Asagi with the German-Scaled common carp. It is the only doitsu (scaleless) Koi that has its own class designation.
All of our koi are hand-picked in Japan and brought back to the US. We choose from the best breeders and offer a wide variety that include every variety we can get our hands on. All of the koi are quarantined for a minimum of 4 weeks, during that time we perform slime coat swipes and various other tests to check for any parasites/illnesses and medicate as necessary.
