All of the koi are quarantined for a minimum of 4 weeks, during that time we perform slime coat swipes and various other tests to check for any parasites/illnesses and medicate as necessary. A Ginrin Ginga koi is a metallic white koi enhanced with sparkling ginrin scales and bold black markings that shimmer and shift as the fish moves, creating a dazzling, star-like effect reminiscent of a glowing night sky, which is why its name means Milky Way in Japanese. The reflective ginrin amplifies the bright white body, giving the fish exceptional brilliance, while the irregular black pattern adds depth, contrast, and individuality. As the koi matures, the sumi may subtly change, adding to its dynamic character, and the fully scaled body maintains a classic, elegant koi shape that stands out beautifully in clear pond water.
