APT Fix Lite
APT Fix Liteis a gentler take on 2HR Aquarist’s well-known algae treatment — a spot-dosing liquid that targets the algae types aquascapers dread most, including black beard algae (BBA) and the various hair, string, and fuzz (filamentous) algae. The “Lite” formula is milder than the original APT Fix, making it a more forgiving choice for tanks with sensitive plants, shrimp, or other delicate inhabitants while still going after problem algae where it grows.
At Cuboid, the APT range is what we run in our own aquascaping display tanks — products we use ourselves day in and day out, and recommend without hesitation to anyone serious about a planted aquarium.
Why It’s Different:Most liquid algae treatments lean on copper or other heavy metals that accumulate in the tank and do long-term harm. APT Fix Lite instead uses active compounds that “biodegrade completely” within about 12–24 hours, leaving no lingering residue behind. That makes it well suited to ongoing, targeted touch-ups rather than a one-time chemical bomb — and it’s why it pairs naturally with a healthy, plant-dominant tank, which is always the best long-term defense against algae.
Used as directed, it’s a precise tool: you turn off the filter, spot-dose the affected leaves, rock, or wood directly, and let it do its work before flow resumes. It’s the kind of product that earns its place in a serious aquascaper’s kit — not a substitute for good husbandry, but a reliable way to knock back a flare-up while you address the root cause through water changes, pruning, and balanced nutrition.
Dosing Guidelines:Spot-dose directly onto affected areas with the filter paused — a useful ceiling isabout 1 ml per 2.5 gallonsper treatment. If you have a lot of ground to cover you can go a bit higher, then follow up with a 50% water change after spot-dosing. Pause your filter during application and resume it afterward. For larger or stubborn outbreaks, 2HR’s online guidance and dosing notes are worth a look.
